What to Expect on Your First Appointment

On your first visit, the therapist will ask you questions about your health history. This information is very important in helping to determine the cause of pain/injury and will help guide the therapist to provide you with safe and effective treatment.

Upon completion of the health history form, the therapist may choose to perform an assessment.

This helps the therapist to find the cause of the pain/injury and to develop a treatment plan that is specific to your needs. Visits can include a combination of Swedish massage, trigger point release, myofascial release, stretching, and rehabilitative exercises.

Massage on normal tissue is almost always a pleasant sensation. Massage in the area of an injury or chronic pain may at first cause some discomfort that usually lessens noticeably in the first few minutes. Your massage therapist knows ways to minimize discomfort, and will work carefully within what feels right to you.
